PERSONALITY: A two-to-three paragraph minimum explanation of your character's personality. What are their strengths and weaknesses? Positive and negative traits and habits? How do events in their canon help shape their growth and personality? This includes but is not limited to specific events and character relationships. Please note, however, that it should not read as a history section - examples should complement the section, not overpower it.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW? What they’ve been up to since the end of the game and how it’s affected them. This section should be at least a decent-sized paragrah for P4 characters, and at least two for P3 characters.

(For NPC apps, both of these must be set in the Persona 4 world.)FIRST PERSON ACTION, JOURNAL, OR PHONE SAMPLE: Caligo does not have one single network unlike many other games. It has phone calls, texts, a school and town bulletin board, and private journal entries (like we all know Yosuke used to write in middle school.) You're free to use whichever you see fit.

>CHARACTER
AGE: 19 (birth date January 16, 1993)
PERSONALITY:
Junpei's a typical blood type B: he's stubborn and an individualist, something that completely separates him from the rest of S.E.E.S. S.E.E.S. is mostly made up of amazing individuals: the student council president and heiress to the Kirijou Empire - Mitsuru Kirijou; the charismatic and well-liked boxing champion Akihiko Sanada; the anti-Shadow weapon Aigis; the school babe Yukari Takeba; the amazing prodigy who would wield multiple Personas - Minato. By stark contrast Junpei is the black sheep (even moreso than the bloody DOG of the group, Koromaru) because he's nobody special, and even after being able to manifest his Persona Hermes he remains rather nondescript spending his time doing things that typical Japanese teenagers do rather than aspire to something higher, rather than join in on any extracirricular activities.
One purpose behind this is that Junpei became very well aware that he's nothing special; even when he was able to manifest Hermes, the guy who joined S.E.E.S. at the same time as him outshone him by being able to wield multiple Personas! Suddenly, being able to wield Hermes was no big deal. Junpei's jealousy of Minato was short-lived, however, and Junpei's personality is greatly expanded in his subplot where he could truly consider himself the hero: when he met the girl Chidori Yoshino.
He has a very outspoken personality and tends to say whatever is on his mind, although it's not always deep and logical; despite that, he's rather stubborn. Whenever Mitsuru says something smart, instead of shutting up and feeling stupid Junpei stills insists on talking. When Chidori continually pushes him away, Junpei persists in speaking with her and worming his was into her heart. Telling him to shut up doesn't deter him: given the chance, he will engage in banter until either side is exhausted. He tends to oversimplify several matters and think of things in black and white.
Hedonism seems to be what drives a lot of his viewpoints; if something feels and looks good, it has to be good, and if something feels or looks bad, ipso facto it has to be bad. It's this way of thinking combined with several other aspects of his personality which tend to get him in trouble more often than not. Because of example, Junpei abstains from alcohol because his father drowned himself into a sea of alcoholism after his mother died.
Other than that, he's very friendly, although competitive. He quickly befriends Minato since Junpei knew what it was like to be "the new guy", and quickly became jealous of Minato once his Wild Card ability was discovered. His carefree demeanor means that any sexual innuendo and jokes are also typically picked up by him and his sense of humor may be a bit low-brow. He may have barely managed to pass high school, but he's by no means a genius and wouldn't be the brains behind any operation.
Out of the entire P3 cast (aside from Minato) Junpei seems to be the only playable male who has anything resembling a libido; his mind quickly goes to the gutter at the slightest provocation (when Yukari was telling Minato about "that night", Junpei automatically assumes they were sleeping together), and is more or less the only one with a main love interest (Chidori); again, this isn't including Minato who apparently sleeps with every girl who confesses her love top him.
However, after Chidori's death, his outlook on life has been far more serious than before. Since the ending of Persona 3, he's grown up in the slightest bit and while he stills knows how to have fun, fun is no longer a detriment to maturity. If he knows a job has to get done, he won't pointlessly aim around hoping that somebody else will fix it. That's not to say he won't get frustrated when he's just incapable of solving a problem on his own, but he won't throw a temper tantrum when it's out of his reach.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Junpei barely managed to graduate from Gekkoukan High School, and worked a few odd jobs here and there. That's the thing about Junpei; in all of S.E.E.S.'s roster, Junpei seemed to have the least brightest future even with the destruction of the world averted. In the interim Junpei's father died of cirrhosis and part of Junpei's guilt lies in the fact that he wasn't willing to serve as a liver donor. Thing is, Junpei's father was in major debt, and while Junpei didn't necessarily have to inherit his debt, Junpei chose to because he also wanted his mother's possessions (in particular, her wedding ring; the only thing his father didn't hock away to the pawn shop).
Given that I don't want this subplot to interfere with the events in Caligo, the debt will have been paid off (with some hard work), and is now once again directionless. Prior to Caligo, Junpei finally swallowed his pride and called in a favor from his former classmate Mitsuru Kirijo. In one way or another, I think in Inaba Junpei might become a rookie in the police force in an attempt to find some sort of direction in his life. Regarding Chidori, Junpei hasn't seen her and even should he catch a glimpse of her by this time he's more or less let her go. This can be played on if there's ever a Chidori player and depends on what her player wants in this regard.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
It was finally paid off.
Junpei thought that sort of thing only happened in movies. Really bad movies, anyway.
Junpei typically wasn't the one to look a gift horse in the mouth - still, what to do now? The graduate had to wonder, tilting his hat as he sat down on the station's bench. It still felt unreal, as two years and Minato was still gone. Things just felt really odd, after all. Humanity was still alive and kicking, thanks to the efforts of S.E.E.S., but it kinda felt like they were all drifting apart. He almost wished he could at least do a lot of it over again, like his stupid rivalry with Minato, but other parts, like meeting Chidori... he wouldn't trade any of that for anything else in the world.
Flipping his phone open, he wondered. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't go back to his dad; the poor old bastard was dead. Not that he absolutely hated him; the time away gave him an opportunity to breath and relax, if anything, but he didn't want to go back to that life. Being a carefree student playing video games instead of studying wasn't an option anymore. At the very least he managed to fight off his debt. But what to do? His grades were abysmal, and he wasn't suited for much. Ruminating on this a bit, he realized it was pretty simple. Dialing Mitsuru-senpai's number, he had hoped that the Kirijou connections could do him a favor.
One ring. Two rings. Several rings. It figured that the head of the Kirijou Group would be too busy to take his call. That was expected. However, just as he was expecting a voice mail, somebody picked up the phone. Junpei held his breath.

Tohru Adachi | SMT: Persona 4 | Reserved | 1/2
PERSONAL JOURNAL:
ARE YOU OVER 16? Yes.

OTHER CHARACTERS:
>CHARACTER
AGE: 28 ( FEB 4 1984 )
PERSONALITY: Adachi has some problems.
While at first (and second and third and even fourth) glance he's cheerful and jovial, often serving to add to the light-hearted comedic value of the first part of the game while it's still the Happiest Game About Murders You'll Ever Encounter. To put it simply, he's fun! Dojima's rookie partner who he bosses around mercilessly, Adachi takes it all with little more than a smile and a seemingly harmless offhand comment or two about how Dojima's always like this, even chews him out when he brings him useful news. It's clear that while he takes the abuse he's an enjoyable guy to be around, and he takes good care of his older partner when he can. The kind of guy you'd trust to make sure you get home safe and sound after ten too many drinks at the bar.
During this part of the game, he's the main source of information for the Protagonist and the Investigation Team on what the police are up to. It's through this tendency to speak too much regarding the case and then later getting scolded for it by his partner that he intends to throw your personal investigation off base and it's not unlikely at one initial point he did it to keep the spread of rumors the town has circulating even more wild than they would become naturally. Souji and Yosuke are just a couple of kids to him at that point, after all. And still at that point, he's nothing more than the young detective who's Souji's uncle's partner who's a little goofy.
A steadfast and hard worker, not to mention sharp and with a clever mind, Adachi first entered the police force for an interesting job and the legal rights to carry a gun. Being such a young detective is part of the reason his butt monkey status has been obtained, that and the air he holds around him is a good-natured and dippy one. He is comic relief for a good time, after all.
Of course, that status of comic relief doesn't last, and the game takes a darker turn. Suspicion is thrown upon Adachi and he's found out to be the killer of Mayumi Yamano and Saki Konishi, two women he describes to the Investigation Team as worthless bitches (and in Saki's case, dippy school girl). He gives the IT a motive rant, monologues for quite a long time in two separate instances. One, to explain how the murders went down complete with flashbacks and boasting, and two, to explain his larger scheme and his motivation behind that. The entire theme of the motive rant is ressentiment. This tendency to place all the blame upon the world has been one of Adachi's for a decent time, it seems, only that it never bit him in the ass quite as hard as it is when you force him to take responsibility for his actions.
His reasoning behind killing was simply because he could, it would be fun, all because he was bored with his life as a young police detective who wasn't treated as well as he might've liked. In his motive rant, he refers to the Investigation Team as brats, saying that when he was in high school all he was allowed to do was study his ass off, implying a strict upbringing based around the ideals of it paying off in the long run. And, well, when it didn't, when life failed to supply the hopes, dreams and expectations the high performing young Adachi had put on it, this moment is when the ressentiment begins to form inside him and grow into a nasty chip on his shoulder that isn't just against any one person, but the entire world.
But there are layers of truth to that statement, because there is a part of Adachi that believes shrouding the world in fog and turning people in shadows would be the best thing for everyone (but most of all himself), there's still the first monologue to go back to, the explaining of the deaths of two innocent women, one just a high school girl. First there's Mayumi Yamano, an announcer he had his eyes set on for what seems to be a decent amount of time (he "noticed her first"), though she has no prior knowledge of who he is or had even seen him before he volunteered to be a guard for her at the Amagi Inn during the scandal of her affair with the council secretary Taro Namatame. That was his excuse to be alone with her, when his real intention was to find out if the affair rumors were true. When she wanted to know why she should explain herself to a stranger after being questioned, he took that as confirmation and turned onto the offensive, calling her a "bitch". When she threatened to call for help, it was clear this triggered some sort of reaction out of him, since in return he told her to shut up and threatened to make her feel what it was like to fear for her life, that it would get her head on straight. His intention was initially rape, but he failed to on account of pushing her up against a television and her falling through it due to the power granted to him from the goddess Izanami when he first got into town.
He was overjoyed, excited. What a cool power he was granted! And so, he left the Amagi Inn, leaving Mayumi inside the TV only to be found on the next foggy day hanging upside down from a telephone tool antenna, dead. Which, for his part, he was shocked to find, as the first appearance he makes in the game is to throw up right after seeing her dead body. He had no idea what the TV World would do, or that he'd have to face seeing her corpse even if she died in there, so it was a shock.
A shock, yes; an exciting one.
His second victim was the girl who found Mayumi's body, Saki Konishi, a girl he hardly remembers the name of. What becomes apparent during the backstory about her is an unusual discrepancy from what you might expect from a jilted admirer. While he saw Taro Namatame, Mayumi's lover, speaking with Saki not too long after Mayumi's body had appeared, and assumed their meeting was not one of innocent intentions, he blames it all on Saki. Adachi holds no grudge against Namatame, in fact, he accused both Mayumi and Saki of gold digging due to Namatame's position as a council secretary. In short, Adachi really hates women, especially those he deems "worthless bitches", a category under which both Mayumi and then later Saki fall.
His final meeting with Saki happened at the police station. (Which a. for some strange reason either has no security cameras, perhaps due to being stationed in such a small town where crime is not such an issue or b. Adachi switched out the tapes; in either case it speaks to Adachi's observational skills or perhaps sheer dumb luck. Considering his luck score listed down in his abilities section, I'd assume the former. He is a detective, after all.) She came in under the guise of questioning, since she was the one to find Mayumi Yamano's body and they had no leads on who might've done it. The encounter went about as well as one might expect. Adachi tried to force himself on her, Saki slapped him, and he, deeming her another worthless bitch and saying he knew how to deal with girls like her, pushed her into the television in the corner of the room (which just so happened to be the corner Adachi pressured her into). This time he took a moment to taunt, sticking his head inside to the TV to tell her to beg and he might let her out, only to have laughed it off a moment later, saying he'd never enter that death trap. Again, let's take a moment to point out his ugly and serious case of the misogyny blues. Damn bitches never let you have their way with them nowadays!
When Adachi is finally cornered, he flees into the TV World. I'll stress the importance of the fact that he ran away. Adachi is a coward who runs away from his problems and hides, staving off the inevitable outcome as long as possible before being forced to face the truth. This is exactly what happens when the Investigation Team corners him and he loses his cool, calm collectedness (in the form of his dippy happy go lucky facade), which admittedly was something he was slipping with for a while by then. He doesn't give up, and instead he runs by throwing himself into a large screen television that was in Namatame's previous hospital room (long story; I'm sure if Namatame's ever apped you'll get to hear more of it).
What the Investigation Team learns soon after locating Adachi for the first time and he tells them the stories of what happened with Mayumi and Saki, he also lets them know that this world likes him. He doesn't have to fight shadows off like them, in fact, he accepts his shadow right away upon entry, though they never get to see how that scene goes down. Throughout the entire game, the Investigation Team has had to fight off the shadows of individuals that go berserk due to being denied, but Adachi never has to fight his shadow. He accepts it straight off (a deduction based on his line "Don't you remember what it was like when your Shadows came out? They must've been enjoying life far more than you!"), and through that gains insight into the nature of the TV World and shadows themselves. It gives him an advantage: control over the terrain of his dungeon, a phenomena unseen prior to then.
Adachi may be a coward, but he takes the "Be Yourself" motif better than any of the main characters, who have each denied an integral part of themselves (aside from the Protagonist, who is a special case). Though one could argue that avoiding the fight between himself and his shadow, one he was sure to lose in his state, was the cowardly thing to do in order to survive longer, but in truth it takes courage to face oneself no matter what form it comes in. It may, instead, go to show his intelligence, a point he has bragged on himself while drunk to a confused Nanako.
As I've eluded to before, the ultimate goal of his is revealed in the second monologue as a blanketing of the real world in fog and a fusing of the TV World and the real, resulting in turning everyone into shadows. At this point Adachi is so completely bored with his life and what reality has cracked up to be, he would eagerly trade it for a more exciting world where repression doesn't have to exist. He is disappointed in the metaphorical box he has been set within by reality. In fact, he's frustrated with its very presence.
Once the Investigation Team defeats both him and Ameno-sagiri, a highly powerful shadow entity that is the source of the fog leaking out into the human world that looks like a giant disco eyeball, Adachi accepts that as well, and promises to take on responsibility for his actions in terms of what it means in the real world. He assures he'll play by the rules of reality. So while immature and a coward, he also understands when he's defeated. His ego likely took a bruise after he lost to a bunch of kids, but it turned out for the better because it assured his compliance.
On a final note, while Adachi is a criminal, deemed worthless by Yosuke Hanamura himself, and yet, he is still in touch with his humanity enough to be touched when Dojima orders a stretcher to be brought out for him due to his assumption Adachi would need one. He cares for Dojima as his partner and later proves to help the IT out a little by writing the Protagonist a letter in the True Ending, which takes place a couple months from then. So while this may not have happened yet for the Adachi being brought to the game, there is still the heavy potential carried within him.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW? Since the end of the game (or, should I say, the end of the Good Ending) Adachi's had some time to himself to think. Too much of it, really, he's got so much he doesn't know what to do with it. Prison doesn't have a lot going on, though he does get to exercise daily and he's lucky enough to have gotten a nice enough break due to his lawyer's efforts he gets to interact with the other prisoners instead of being stuck in solitary confinement. It was strange how the lawyer they assigned him was so adamant about getting him as little sentence as possible, but he did it while still having him take the blame for it.
It was all in the little tricks, of course, and Adachi hadn't seen someone be able to pull those tricks quite as well as his lawyer before. Ironically, at that point he'd wanted to confess to everything. He was defeated, both mentally and emotionally and he just wanted to get away from things and people and be locked up forever but his lawyer had other plans. But ever since then, he'd gotten sort of a reputation around those in prison. He was a high profile criminal stuck in among those who'd done lesser crimes. Two women murdered and he was among those who'd done much less. In the courtroom the lawyer was able to put on the perspective that he'd had a lot less to do with it intention wise than he actually had. Involuntary manslaughter of some sort - it was an accident, at least the first time, and he played on that. Anyway, Adachi's time was spent fine in prison. Because of the nature of his crimes, the other prisoners gave him a little more room than was necessary. A murderer among common thieves, yeah, he'd definitely gotten a rep, but it wasn't unwarranted, nor was it unwanted. He kind of liked being feared, after all that'd happened. It was a nice change, something that told him he wasn't just a useless, incompetent cop, but was in actuality a killer who'd deceived the town of Inaba and cops alike.
By the time Caligo starts, everyone in the prison system knows about Adachi's boyish smile and deceptively friendly air, they know him as the killer who got off easy. A defeated man who more often keeps to himself, he ultimately doesn't belong among those he's with.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE: (Re-using from Adachi's Asgard app.)
And just like that, it was over. Ameno-sagiri was defeated, and Adachi's body was falling limply onto the round roared platform that hovered in a previously red and black, currently gray world. He knew where he was and what had happened. A host he had been for a powerful being and he had experienced it consciously. As his tongue had spoken the words, he was aware of its actions. He was simply not in control of it. It was an experience, spiritual and unlike he had known previously. His body had been ripped into by shadow after shadow to transform into Ameno-sagiri's true form, and as soon as the being was gone, evanesced into the air around them, he was returned to his usual state. Feet hit the ground, collapsing onto themselves as his entire body fell back onto the harsh pavement of the world his subconscious had created.
Satonaka was the first to speak, expressing doubts onto Adachi's true intentions, but no, Ameno-sagiri had not controlled him, not this entire time. Shirogane expressed that doubt as well, but even the great Detective Prince had no way of knowing. And so they approached. By that time, Adachi's eyes were open, one hand over his torso, his stomach, and the other splayed to the side against the pavement, and his body otherwise unmoved.
"So that's it, huh?" This was it. This group was brats had beaten him. They didn't say anything. They weren't going to. They didn't need to. Adachi could've sworn he heard Shirogane express a sound that implied thinking as well, but it was soft, and he was panting enough that he wasn't as alert as he'd otherwise might be, audibly. "Fine." He breathed, struggled, "Live however you want. If you think you have the power to change the future, go right ahead." The words came out bitter, harshly. He was defeated, his points moot in their eyes and it was likely they would keep on living their naive and idealistic ways. He had tried and failed, his perspective overwritten by theirs by a giant eyeball. What Adachi had to accept now, with their victory, was that he had no choice but to let them try to do whatever it was they wanted, and it left a bad taste in his mouth.
Everyone has the power to do that. Hanamura this time. The kid who'd been fawning over that high school girl.
"Heh…" Adachi had no difficulty overriding those words in his mind. They were a lie, after all. Look at what he'd done, trying to change it and failing. He was ready to die, now, had no reason to keep living. Those kids wouldn't want him to keep on living, anyway, not after what he'd done. He was fine with that. In fact, he expected nothing less. There was even a part of him that looked forward to death, to not having to deal with the boredom and panic and paranoia his every day life had become. He sighed, wincing and breathing heavily, letting himself look off to the side and avoid their eyes. It would be easier that way. "Get outta here… The shadows will finish me off… Just leave me be…" All he wanted at this point was solitude. It was that desire that he looked up once again, wincing at the kids there as if he couldn't stand the sight of them. "You came to kill me in the first place, didn't you?" And he knew the answer to that; the question was rhetorical.
It was with genuine surprise he got a 'no', and before he knew it Hanamura was lecturing him about the rules of the world, and if they'd let him die there a dead body would show up in the other world. Of course they cared about wrapping the case up neatly… All Adachi could say was "Right," and agree to what the kid was saying. Shirogane mentioned Dojima after that, and for a moment no one said anything. Adachi didn't want to think about what Dojima would want, not now that he knew he'd be forced to face him after all this.

AGE: 17
PERSONALITY:
As Persona 4's protagonist, Souji doesn't say a whole lot, and what he does say and do can vary based on the player's choices. Souji is literally the Fool, a blank slate, a barebones character without even a name that you can shape into whatever you want. He is zero, but has unlimited potential. Even so, parts of his personality do become apparent as you play the game and other things you easily theorize based on the context of his actions in the game.
At first glance, Souji seems to be a quiet, soft-spoken kind of guy who might easily respond to any given conversation with a series of ellipses "...." instead of words. With parents overseas for work for an entire year - parents that you never get any indication ever communicated with him throughout the course of the game - you can pretty safely assume that typically, he has a fairly distant relationship with his family, and this remains so even while living with the Dojimas, at least at first. Through the process of developing social links, Souji progresses and eventually carves himself an integral place in the lives of his uncle and cousin as well as in his friends' lives. Forming those important connections takes him from being a person somewhat unused to being close to others, friends and family included, to being the foundation of the Investigation Team as well as the new foundation for the Dojima family.
Through the course of the game, you learn a lot about what kind of person Souji is, at his core. The first thing to note is how accepting he is of others, even people he doesn't know well. He constantly reassures his friends after they face and accept their shadows, telling them that everyone has things they can't face, or things that are embarrassing or that they're ashamed of, and not to worry so much about it. He even goes on to befriend and form social links with all the members of his team, already knowing some of the deepest, darkest secrets they'd have likely hidden if not for having to face their shadows. That leads into another part of Souji - he is incredibly into helping people, and cares deeply for others. Everything from the social links with his friends, to his quests for the Fox, to the random quests that he's given around town indicate that he won't hesitate to lend a helping hand where it's needed. He's responsible and hardworking, taking on several jobs and working so hard that free time to work on the case is actually hard to come by. Balancing working on the case with working part time jobs, doing quests, helping his social links, studying for exams, and doing reading that will help his personal growth means that he's often run ragged from trying to do everything at once and be everything that everyone needs him to be.
This selflessness is a double-edged sword, though. He really doesn't open up to his friends that often at all. He never complains about how tough he has it. He sucks it up and plows ahead and does his best, sometimes ignoring his own problems. The biggest luxury he affords himself in his life is to actually go to bed early in the evenings after he goes to the TV world, or whenever he eats something from the fridge that doesn't agree with him. Otherwise, he'll simply check his schedule, see that he has his tutoring job or needs to make a bajillion envelopes for his envelope-folding job and do that instead.
Souji is, of course, the IT's leader, and he's great at it. Being unanimously chosen for the role at the start because of his level head and apparent ability to make decisions and know what he's doing, Souji ends up excelling at it for other reasons as well. His Wild Card ability does come into it, but beyond that Souji is able to push when the situation needs a push, pull away and retreat when the situation calls for it, and he can plan his days and weeks and watch the weather forecasts like nobody's business. Oftentimes when the group is sitting and discussing the murders, he'll pipe up with an important point, something that the others hadn't noticed. Ultimately, he's also the one who is able to keep cool enough to prevent the group from hurling Namatame into the TV, and he's also able to put the pieces of the puzzle together and suggest that in fact, Adachi is the one responsible for the first two murders. His leadership and presence in the group is extremely valuable, and it's doubtful the group could have managed to succeed without him and his insight.
That said, Souji is also not infallible as a leader. He, and the group as a whole, does make mistakes. The twists and turns in the storyline no doubt cause Souji stress. Each time they think they've caught the culprit but something else indicates that they were wrong after all, it's a combination of relief (because some part of him no doubt enjoys playing detective with his friends, even if he will insist up and down that it isn't a game) and dread (because it isn't a game and should not be treated as such, it needs to end, Inaba needs to find peace again). His failures, mainly his failure to protect Dojima and especially Nanako, hit him hard. He tries not to show it but when he's home alone in November and December, his change in mood is apparent. The background music is more sombre, and when you check the fridge, it's simply "the same as usual inside". A little bit of the color Souji had found in his life is taken away when Dojima and Nanako are in the hospital, and there's no doubt in my mind he feels the sting of regret and guilt over it.
On an entirely different note, Souji can be utterly weird and sort of a huge dork. He's not always the stoic Leader-sama with abs of steel. Souji sees portals to the meat dimension in Aiya's Rainy Day Special, he does magic tricks with a rubber band to entertain Nanako, calmly accepts a skirt and a wig and cross-dresses for the school festival, and let's not forget his obsession with feeding and helping stray cats. Souji loves cats. They flock to him. Literally. All of this - along with his weird, somewhat dorky and dry sense of humor - makes him an interesting character.
Souji's a great guy. A good friend, caring, understanding, hard-working, responsible...
But he's also got some problems, weaknesses, and bad habits. I probably referred to a few of them here and there throughout, but they definitely deserve a few paragraphs of their own. For one, Souji is pretty hard to get to know since he doesn't often speak about himself, at least not on screen where we can see. You can fill in the blanks of the scenes where he spends time with his social links and assume he talks about himself somewhat - clearly, no one would really befriend someone who never talked about themselves - but if and when he does talk about himself, very rarely is it in depth. He doesn't go too deeply into his own problems or feelings or even too much about his past, choosing instead to focus most of the conversation on the other person. His walls are almost always up.
In addition, he spends so much time doing the whole "be responsible, be a good leader, do everything right the first time" thing that he often forgets to take care of and help himself. Thankfully, this doesn't turn out to be a huge problem, because over the course of the story, despite all the stress and pressure Souji has been under, he does grow a lot and develop life-long friendships and even a second family. The long-term result is worthwhile because by the end, he has friends and family who would put down their lives for him and support him in any way the can. He still needs to learn to take care of himself, but at least the others are there to help him pick up the slack.
One relatively minor bad habit of Souji's ties in directly with his utterly weird personality: and that involves his tendency to eat weird things from the fridge just to see if he can. Sometimes these items are harmless, other times they prove nearly deadly and he has to stop before he can even swallow (grass, I'm looking at you...). It's all in an attempt to raise his Courage (and also, presumably, because he's just that damn hungry). What a weirdo. That stuff makes you sick more often than not, Souji, what are you doing to yourself? It's especially perplexing because he shows himself to be a relatively good cook in the kitchen when he actually has decent ingredients to work with.
Overall, Souji's year in Inaba changes him for the better. He's less likely to ellipses at people "...." and he becomes more courageous, understanding, eloquent, knowledgeable, and diligent. He gains a great group of friends and a real sense of family in his uncle and cousin. He makes a huge difference in the fate of the town, and saves a whole bunch of cats from starvation out on the mean streets of Inaba.
He's a hero. They're all heroes. Misfit heroes, but heroes nonetheless.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Souji has gone back to his parents' snazzy upscale apartment in Tokyo and re-enrolled in his old high school. His parents still work a lot, and he's left with a house mainly to himself most of the time. At least their fridge is usually well stocked, and he can make himself dinner and not have to resort to eating suspicious slabs of lunch meat on paper plates.
The environment here is a lot different from that of Inaba. Souji loves his parents, but they're around even less than Dojima used to be while working on a case. He finds himself missing his second family back in Inaba. The friends and acquaintances he used to have in the city welcome him back, though it's all too obvious that he's out of the loop with them and that his social link ranks with most of them had never been all that high to begin with. He misses the Investigation Team.
He even misses having a schedule filled to the brink with club activities, work, social obligations, and trips into the TV world. The adjustment period isn't quite over yet by the time April 11th rolls around. He'll be very interested and secretly excited to hear about the mysterious visitors and other goings-on in Inaba, even if he can't be there physically. Once again, the mystery is not completely solved just yet...
It's exciting. And it gives Souji plenty of reason to keep in touch with his friends back in the boonies, something for which he is glad.

A stunning example of first person action-filled interaction between our darling protag and his partner can be found here.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
He stumbled in at eight o'clock only to be greeted by an empty house. Seven levels in one day, and then they'd had to retreat. Souji could have paid the fox for healing, but he'd already put down a lot of money on new equipment from Deidara's and TV Tanaka. They were all exhausted anyway, so there wasn't much of a point. He'd called for a retreat and promised they'd be back tomorrow.
Sighing, Souji made his way to the fridge, holding his side with one hand. Injuries from the TV world usually stayed in the TV world, especially if they managed to cast healing spells before leaving. There was an ache in his side tonight, though - one he'd sleep off and probably not have to worry about too much tomorrow. A good night's rest usually helped any remaining injuries from that other world. Opening the refrigerator door with one hand, he noted once again that yes, it was just as barren as usual. Maybe after they rescued Nanako he could find some time to go out and actually buy food. He couldn't subsist on Diet Food and Meat Gum forever.
Another sigh and he was making his way upstairs only to crash on his unmade futon, splayed back-down and limbs askew.
It was so lonely here, without his uncle and cousin. Especially without Nanako. Guilt twisted his insides every time he thought of her, still stuck in that other world, afraid, helpless, and presumably stuck there with the murderer...
What if he-
Shuddering deeply, Souji covered his eyes with one arm, squeezing them shut hard. He was not about to think the worst. Just because he'd been hit close to home with this particularly incident, that didn't mean that he couldn't still be strong. Chie had been strong (a little too hasty, but strong nonetheless) when Yukiko had been taken. He could certainly be the same for Nanako. She'd need him to be strong for her tomorrow when they tried again to reach the uppermost Paradise.
A few deep breaths, and he was fine. As fine as he could manage, anyway. He grabbed aimlessly for his bag, fishing out some Diet Food for supper. As he munched on it, he played around with the idea of trying to read something, or maybe building a model... something fun and relaxing. But the ache in his side and the wariness in his bones won out.
Souji fell asleep still wearing his clothes, only having finished half of the diet bar, and dreamed about comforting a crying Nanako. He could only hope that they'd be close together again soon.

AGE: 17
PERSONALITY:
Those who first meet Yosuke Hanamura are bound to see a few specific traits right off the bat; He's a bit on the clumsy side, that's for certain. He tends to say the wrongs things at the wrong times, leading to a horrible case of foot-in-mouth syndrome. Often times, he really is the embodiment on a misfit teenager, good hearted, but still tactless. He lacks certain social graces, and that is often putting it lightly. But despite that, what you see on the surface is only a small fraction of the person Yosuke truly is. His lack of grace, combined with his background and history -- being the son of the Junes manager and ultimately "heir" to the cancer that is killing small-business in Inaba -- makes it very easy to overlook the other aspects of him. Even at its core, after meeting everyone and dealing with his own shadow, he is still that awkward boy. But now, he's got more to show for it. He's learned a bit here and there, but at his core, he's just a teenage boy who wants to be cared about and accepted by the people around him.
The thing about a guy like Yosuke - one who tends to blurt out his stream of consciousness before really considering the considering the consequences - is that it's very easy for people to assume that he's not very bright. And to some extent, it's very true! Book smarts are not his strong suit in the slightest; Yosuke is quick to ask Souji for the answers to questions when being called on in class, and exhibits absolute dread at extensive schoolwork and exams. So much so that he actually becomes whiny. In that regard, yes, he is a bit slow on the uptake. However, he excels in other areas. He's very perceptive, having a good grasp on what the people around him (including Saki, though he wasn't quick to admit it) think of him. His common sense and deductive skills are excellent. Sometimes overshadowed by revelations of other characters later on, Yosuke did come up with many conclusions that proved to be integral to the investigation. He may not be the greatest on paper, but when you give him a situation where something serious is on the line, chances are he'll be able to put two and two together and at least make some sense of things. It may take some thinking at times, but often enough, his conclusions are quick. Sometimes they're precise, other times, not so much. He can read clues well; Even when others are putting the pieces together, he's good at chiming in with blatant agreements/disagreements and tends to be right.
This isn’t to say his logic is flawless. There are things that set him off (please, say the name "Saki Konishi" and insert something horrible about her or her death and see how he takes it), and when they do... oh boy. Yosuke can be impulsive to the point of completely hypocritical. His sense of justice can be a bit skewed; despite being someone who didn't want anyone else to die, in a moment of being completely overwhelmed by his emotions was adamant about exacting revenge. Do the same to one and had been done to others. It took a bit of calming down for him to understand that he was not just wrong, but so incredibly wrong. He can be vicious that way. In addition to that, he can also be incredibly closed minded and really very stupid about matters with his friends. It could be the "typical" teenage boy in him, or maybe the lack of social graces that causes this in him. As someone who never really had close friends before coming to Inaba, it seems that his inability to handle some situations (whether it's Kanji's sexuality, anything regarding Chie, his failed attempts at flirting with Rise, and even the way he teases Naoto) is misguided. It's never intentionally vicious, but meant in a complete lack of understanding - or just in jest, depending on the circumstances.
Not that it makes it okay. Mildly homophobic at times, fumbling over his words, spouting innuendos that are not even remotely endearing... They're not acceptable to say the least, and it only goes to further prove that sometimes he needs to just clamp his mouth shut. Sometimes, he genuinely doesn't realize that what he's saying is wrong or hurtful; when that much is obvious, he usually gets a nudge from someone cluing him in.
And to begin topping off his not-so-endearing side, he's also got a hero complex and an inferiority complex the size of the Milky Way. Though his desire to "be the hero" improves over the course of time (less about the "I will save people! I'll solve this case!" and more about the "We've gotta do this for the sake of everyone else"), it's hard to say it goes away completely. It lays dormant in him, awaiting the moment to shine (in battle. Boy, can Yosuke be showy in battle with all his spinning and knife tossing), though his motivations for it change. Rather than doing it for acceptance or recognition, it becomes mostly about doing the right thing because it's the right thing, which really indicates a growth from being childish to the path of an adult. As for that inferiority complex? Oh boy. It's something he's working on. Though he's mostly overcome the bulk of it over the course of 2011 - getting closer with Souji and really seeing things for what they are, understanding and accepting that Souji is their leader because he really is fantastic at it. But all the same, he still doesn't want to be below Souji (If you are laughing right now, I have worded this correctly). He wants to stand next to Souji, as equals, partners and best friends - which for him, is not an easy thing.
It's hard to feel equal to someone when you don't have much of your own self-worth. Yosuke knows all about his own problems - he knows that he isn't the brightest. He knows that he sucks at winning over the girls. He knows (or truly believes to an exaggerated extent) that Saki, his beloved senpai, wanted nothing to do with him beyond what was necessary. He knows that he was pushy and overly hopeful. He even knows that he could barely swallow his own pride to put his full faith in Souji's ability as leader. Spending so much time as an outcast, being ridiculed by others, judged for every last thing to do - for being who you are and for being related to people that have caused problems in a small town by proxy... well, that's enough for Yosuke. A long and arduous path it may be, but knowing what the problems are is the first step, and regardless of its difficulty, it's something he wants to overcome. He wants to be acknowledged, cared about, and loved. He wants to make the people around him proud, and do the things that can make that possible.
It's because of those feelings that begin to scratch at the surface of Yosuke's other side. For all of the traits he has that are less than flattering, what he does have in positive traits compensates in spades. He may not have the best ways of expressing, but the boy does have the best of intentions. The people that are close to him are something akin to his entire world. He may tease the other members of the investigation team at times, but there is little denying that he loves them all.
Even when he barely knew them, he was often the first to call out their names in dungeons, to make declarations that nobody could give up until they were saved. Despite even feeling a bit uncomfortable with Kanji's sexual orientation, after saving him, Yosuke didn't care about that. He was the first to step up and say "I'll take this guy home." There was no ifs ands or buts. There was no asking Souji for help, or trying to pass the buck. It's a trend that carries through the game, wanting to find each victim, not wanting them to become the next one to end up like Saki. Even facing the death of someone he didn't like, he feels guilt and remorse for suspecting Morooka, even being very clear that he didn't deserve to die. You know, regardless of what an asshole he may have been.
He can be pretty brotherly too; his relationship with Teddie is nothing short of that. Taking in the bear, getting him a job and even his own cell phone - it's evident that despite their constant bickering, Teddie is like a sibling to him. He's similar with Nanako as well, though not nearly to the extent that Souji fills the role. He does care about her a lot, and is one of the people who tries to hold the most faith in her throughout all of November's events. And, of course, there's Naoki Konishi. Though it's really only seen in a brief portion of Naoki's social link, he wants to look out for Naoki too. You really don't watch warmly over someone while they eat food you bought for them without there being some level of care there. It's something of a process, yes. Growing up without siblings means that becoming one at 17 is something of a challenge - but one he evidently is working to overcome.
In addition to all of this, Yosuke is extremely adept in battle. He's not a powerhouse by any means, but he's an extremely balanced fighter. With a mix of wind spells, buffs and debuffs, some healing and some physical prowess, he's nothing to laugh at. Sure, sometimes he's a bit clumsy when he drops that weapon, but it's no laughing matter when he strikes. It's something Yosuke is proud to say that he's actually good at.
At the end of the day, Yosuke is a good kid with a big heart of gold. Yes, he can be a bit misguided - he says the wrong things, he can fly off the handle. He flails, he sputters, he blushes. He constantly tries to assure others (and himself, clearly) of where he stands on the Kinsey scale (Unless being clear about how he DOESN'T swing that way and how much he loves Rise's slim legs didn't make that totally obvious of course). But all the same, he wants to be a good friend, a good son, and a stand-up guy. It may be a work in progress, but one thing’s for certain - every aspect of him, both good and bad is what makes him distinctly Yosuke.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
In the time since March 21st, not very much has happened to Yosuke. He's enrolled for his third year courses at Yasogami , he's picked up a few extra shifts at Junes. He's not succeeding, but he's trying to figure out what he wants to do with himself in the future, now that he's got the time to think about it without the case bogging him down. He's thinking about girls and buying himself a motorcycle, tripping over himself... and trying to keep it together. He's made it his mission to make sure that whoever remains in Inaba from the IT stays close. He goes to the Dojima residence a few times a week to check on Nanako (and maybe Dojima a bit), and he feeds the stray cats outside the Dojima household... and the one that hangs out by the gazebo in the floodplain.
Much to his chagrin.
But because Souji asked.
Aside from that, it's pretty much the norm for Yosuke, with added time to email Souji often enough and keep him up-to-date on the goings on of Inaba. Also a bit to his chagrin, since it makes him feel like a gossipy housewife. Whoops.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Even though it had only been a few weeks since classes let out for the break, walking up to the Yasogami gates felt foreign. Yosuke wasn't sure what it was exactly. It could have been the fact that his seniors had graduated, or maybe it was the bustling influx of first years causing their own special brand of chaos. Before choosing to step inside, he decided to take the tiniest of detours, hanging out off to the side and watching as people made their way in. Kanji and Naoto came in a pair, exchanging their pleasantries before continuing on. Maybe it wasn't those things. Maybe it was the fact that he knew there would be no Souji for him to call out to. That knowing there'd be an empty seat in front of him and likely only Chie to prod if he needed help answering a question.
Yeah, like that would get me far.
He couldn't help but snort at his own thought, as if Chie would really be of any use to him. He snapped back to his original thought, absentmindedly adjusting the headphones that sat around his neck. Though the music was blaring from them, he really paid no mind to it until the song changed. And just like that - nearly a flash - it hit him like a ton of bricks.
The song itself was really nothing to note. It was punky song, with relatively mindless lyrics. But something about it had struck him at this time last year, and it had become Yosuke's anthem of foggy days. For whatever reason, this song had made those days feel less eerie, less ominous. And with those first four chords, he immediately settled into that same state of euphoria.
It's foggy.
That was it. The fog was blanketing the area in a way he couldn't recall seeing in months. Sure, there had been days with fog, it was inevitable. This... this wasn't the normal fog. Yosuke's eyes widened, hand clasping over his mouth as his jaw dropped. Had humanity given up? Did Ameno-Sagiri decide that it was over anyway, after all they fought for? Suddenly nothing else mattered. He ran forward, heading towards the flood plain until he spotted two familiar figures. Stopping in front of them, he was silent trying to catch his breath. But as Chie opened her mouth to ask what was wrong, he held a hand up to silence her.
"Something's wrong," That's all he can manage to sputter out in-between breaths. "This fog, it's... dammit, why is this happening?"
It was clear neither of them understood, but there wasn't time to explain. He had to go tell Kanji and Naoto, he had to call Souji and pray that he hadn't started his classes yet. "Just... meet me at the food court after school, got it?"
And without another word, he was off and running again, all the while his mind raced to come up with answers. In any case, if he'd fallen out of shape at all from not fighting for a while, he was certainly about to get a refresher course in endurance.

AGE: 16
PERSONALITY:
Factual, logical, and cool-headed, Naoto is a young detective who aspires to work for the police someday. She believes that the truth is the ultimate reward, and has a strong sense of what's right and just.
Naoto is good at logic, reasoning, and deductive thinking. She excels at reading the body language and facial expressions of others, and enjoys things like puzzles and mind games. Her best subjects are most likely math and science.
Naoto is not good at social situations--even though she's very good at reading people, she's not sure how to react to personal questions, nor situations where she's participating in typical young-people activities (parties, dating, etc).
She is a bit defensive and insecure about her sex, since the police are a male-dominated profession. Despite this, she still retains some feminine qualities,
and seems to foster a bit of a crush on her classmate, Kanji. However, she tries to ignore her feelings, and remains intent on school and her work at the police station.
Naoto's true passion is cracking cases, in order to protect the well-being of others. More than anything, she wants to help people, and this is the reason why she enjoys being a detective, regardless of her age and gender.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Since Souji returned to the city, Naoto has kept in contact with him, as they're close friends. She's also continued to spend time with their friends, all of whom she considers her lifelong friends. She has also been suspicious of the fog that has returned to Inaba, and has kept a close eye on the television world, as well as the media, to watch out for any strange new murders.
She has also been keeping up with school, and has been handling several new cases at the police station. She works alongside Dojima, who is mentoring her along with her grandfather.

One of my partners, selvanic, played the role of Souji Seta.
Souji Seta 6:01 pm
Hello, Naoto? Are you online right now?
Naoto Shirogane 6:01 pm
Hello, Souji-senpai. Yes, obviously I am, since I am answering you. What can I do for you?
Souji Seta 6:01 pm
It's been a while. I'm glad to see not much has changed.
I just wanted to ask you something, since I've been away a while now.
Naoto Shirogane 6:02 pm
Indeed. It has been a while.
What would you like to know?
Souji Seta 6:02 pm
Have you and Kanji started dating yet?
Naoto Shirogane 6:02 pm
Senpai, what does this have to do with anything?
Souji Seta 6:03 pm
You and Kanji are my friends. And before I left, he and I talked for a bit. I was wondering if he'd asked you out yet.
Naoto Shirogane 6:03 pm
I believe this is out of line, Senpai.
I am going to log off now.
Souji Seta 6:03 pm
No! Naoto wait!
I didn't mean to be rude.
I was just curious...
Naoto Shirogane 6:03 pm
I see.
Souji Seta 6:03 pm
I wanted to know how things were back in Inaba. If anything has changed.
Naoto Shirogane 6:04 pm
I see. And how is this relevant to whether or not Kanji-kun and I are dating?
Souji Seta 6:04 pm
Well, that would be a change from when I'd left, wouldn't it?
Naoto Shirogane 6:04 pm
I . . . I suppose so. Yes.
Naoto Shirogane 6:05 pm
But, how to put this . . . it is not your business.
Souji Seta 6:05 pm
Haha. I suppose not. Though I do care about how you and the others are doing. And if you and Kanji -- or anyone else for that matter -- were to be dating, that would effect how you're doing, wouldn't it?
Naoto Shirogane 6:06 pm
I suppose so.
Although, I do believe you have yet to ask out Rise-chan, and you claimed you would do that a month ago.
Souji Seta 6:07 pm
Oh...Well...it's a little harder when it's long distance like this.
Naoto Shirogane 6:07 pm
No excuses.
A man does not make excuses.
Souji Seta 6:07 pm
Right. There is the fact that she and I haven't been in contact much of late.
Naoto Shirogane 6:08 pm
I suppose that would not help. Her new music is very good, though.
Souji Seta 6:08 pm
It really is. I've been keeping up with that at least. Haha.
So...does this mean that there is dating going on since I've left?
Naoto Shirogane 6:09 pm
I have never confirmed this, have I?
Nor have I said anything to indicate this fact.
Souji Seta 6:09 pm
No. That's why I'm asking. Though that was a bit roundabout for me.
Naoto Shirogane 6:10 pm
Yukiko-senpai and Chie-senpai went on a date last week.
Souji Seta 6:10 pm
Oh that's good.
Naoto Shirogane 6:11 pm
They are also as fascinated as you seem to be on why Kanji-kun and I have not gone on a date.
Naoto Shirogane 6:11 pm
I don't understand why this seems to be such a popular subject, lately.
Souji Seta 6:11 pm
Well...you could always stop all of the questions by giving it a try, right?
Nothing can be gained if experiments aren't made.
Naoto Shirogane 6:12 pm
I can't be distracted, right now. I have school, and work at the police station. Not to mention all this fog returning.
I suppose so.
Still, I do not wish to endanger Kanji-kun by fraternizing with him.
Souji Seta 6:13 pm
Consider going on a date with Kanji as gathering evidence as to whether a relationship with him really would be harmful or not.
Naoto Shirogane 6:13 pm
I . . . suppose I could try that.
But only after you have asked Rise-chan out on a date.
Souji Seta 6:13 pm
Alright, it's a deal.
Naoto Shirogane 6:14 pm
Alright. She's online right now, actually.
Why don't you say hi?
Souji Seta 6:14 pm
Oh...I guess I will then. Thank you for telling me...
Naoto Shirogane 6:14 pm
You're welcome.
Oh, I must go. Jii-sama wants help with dinner.
I hope we can talk some other time.
Goodbye.
Souji Seta 6:15 pm
Goodbye, Naoto. Take care.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
This is an excerpt taken from an unpublished oneshot.
Her earliest memory was a rainy day, when her father had taken her shopping. She had been three, and Naoto remembered the way the trip had been cut off, when her father was called about work. Her parents had left her with her grandfather, as they always did. When she asked her grandfather why her parents were always working, she was told it was because ‘crime never rests.’ She remembered the lull of her grandfather’s voice as he read her Sherlock Holmes novels, and she remembered the times her grandfather had helped her craft the knife, the silly badge, the things she had valued as a child.
The night her parents died, she only remembered small flashes—the legs of policemen at the door, her grandfather’s face when he heard the news, the way artifical light cracked on the floor, as it met the window. Even at sixteen, his words stay with her, your parents died for you, Nao-chan. At the time, she hadn’t understood what he could possibly mean—she was selfish at six, and only wanted to have her parents back. For a long time, she thought it was unfair, how other children still had their parents, how they would spend time with them, when hers were taken away before she could understand the full implications of death.
They caught the killer when she was eleven, and her grandfather brought pictures home for her to see. Jaded and abrasive, she had asked if she could question her parent's murderer. When her grandfather said no, she had gone upstairs to the bathroom, and cut off her long, black hair. It was as though she cut away her fragility, as the strands drifted to the floor around her, and it was then that she decided she would sacrifice her beauty in order to follow her family profession.
Her grandfather asked her the next day if she would like to help him solve cases.
Yet as she grew, she learned—her parents had truly died for her, in a complexly indirect way. The person they had arrested that night could have broken into their house the next day, could have murdered someone else; Naoto could have been waiting somewhere among those victims, a walking deceased, had her parents not sacrificed themselves. It was something she constantly reminded herself of, with each case she cracked, with each person she questioned.
Everything was as it should be, and the facts would always arrange themselves into a path for her to follow. It was the reason why she loved to be a detective. The truth was always one question, one piece of evidence away, from saving a child or a woman or a man, and it was in this way that she found reason to forgive her parents. As her grandfather had always insisted, they truly loved her, and she was aware they only knew how to show it through their work.
It was all she could have ever asked for.

AGE: 16
PERSONALITY: When he first appears in the game, Kanji seems entirely like a young delinquent, and even dresses the part with a (probably fake) tattoo, bleached hair, and several piercings. He speaks crudely, is quick to violence, and has a temper on a hair trigger. It becomes obvious almost immediately that he's sensitive about some things--his obvious crush on the "Detective Prince" for one, and people's perceived judgment of his actions--from the way he responds violently and angrily when those things are mentioned, or he just thinks they are. As things develop the surface is revealed to be mostly a facade and the rest an attempt to be what he thinks is manly and strong.
The angry facade is pretty obvious right from the beginning. Even when he's trying to hide his fears and insecurities, he does it very poorly. He covers things up by awkwardly screaming and being intimidating, but the moment he's alone he's far less confident. His heart is on his sleeve in spite of his poor attempts at putting on extra layers. He's constantly on the defensive, him against the world, and always assumes the worst. Unfortunately for him, he's huge and terrifying, and knows exactly how to dress to amplify that. Until his shadow is faced, no one even tries to get close and see through the thin facade.
And it is a very thin one. The moment a cool, collected take-charge detective approaches him and is interested in him, the angry tough guy starts to fall apart. He starts acting awkward and unsure and starts taking concern in appearing presentable to keep that interest going. He does misinterpret interest in a slightly romantic bent, and partly because of this, but mostly just over Naoto in general, almost instantly develops a huge, raging crush in return. When he feels something, he feels it very strongly, and his emotions often get the better of him. He's very reactive, and his way of coping with emotions that scare him is to get very, very angry to try to cover them up. Even when he starts to grow out of that, if he can't face his emotions he'll do things like turn his back to hide what's showing on his face, or refuse to acknowledge things.
As for acting how he thinks manly and strong men should, when he was young, Kanji's father died, and his last words to his son were, "If you're a man, you have to become strong" and Kanji took it as an insult for not being manly enough, and resolved to change to become manly and strong. He adopted a tough guy attitude and began getting into fights--some being an awkward attempt to help his mother--and pushing people away. This is motivated by fear and insecurity, and becomes inextricably wound up in the angry facade. The only acceptable emotions for a tough punk to show are anger and rudeness, but Kanji is at heart a very sensitive soul and as much as he claims sometimes that the opinions of others don't effect him, they actually have great impact. When he was very young, he showed his hobbies--sewing and doll-making--to a girl in his class to help her, and ended up teased by everyone and with the girl he tried to help crying. He developed a complex about his hobbies, considering them girly and something he needed to hide, and also started to fear/hate rejection. So this was the Kanji that begins the game. Outwardly every inch the punk, but inwardly sensitive and ashamed of his hobbies and insecure about his sexuality.
Then he gets kidnapped, and all his worst fears, insecurities and repressed parts of himself are brought out in the form of his shadow. His shadow is a bundle of gay stereotypes--complete with a lisp and shamelessly hitting on every male he sees--but past that, admits to being afraid of being rejected by everyone and anyone, and asks for somebody, anybody to accept him. There's a lot more to his shadow than just insecurities about his sexuality, though that does play a small part of it. Kanji's strong desire to be accepted and loved without having to hide comes out the strongest, with his fears about his atypical hobbies and rejection being second.
Because he wants to be accepted and loved, the new friends he makes become exceptionally important. He's not very good at showing he cares (especially to his mother, who he falls back on rude outbursts towards when she says something he isn't prepared for or embarrasses him) but he will do anything for them, even during the True End of the game sacrifice his life (which won't have happened in Caligo, but he would do it again in a heartbeat). But because he cares so much, their negative opinions hurt a lot worse. Kanji gets furious whenever Yosuke picks on his sexuality, not entirely because he's still insecure and unsure about it himself, but because to him it feels like Yosuke is expressing dislike for him. However, because Yosuke is a friend, he never goes through with his threats and ends up just growling pointlessly. Out of his friends, his relationship with Yosuke is the rockiest because of this. Similarly, when Rise sees his hobbies and accepts them, he is buoyed up and becomes much more confident and upbeat about them, even to the point of starting up classes at the end of the game (though he's still a little unsure and embarrassed).
So through the game, and his interactions with the other Investigation Team members (especially Souji) Kanji works on accepting his other self and coming to terms with his insecurities. He does succeed, learning that he doesn't need to be rejected for his unusual hobbies and to stand up for himself rather than let other people think what they want to think passively.
Kanji at the end of the game is much more open about what he likes and who he is. He's adopted a new idea of what strength is that involves being true to himself 100% and showing others so they can understand and respect him with less fear of rejection. And through that, he's come to terms with his guilt and anger towards his dad. He's far less afraid to show his gentle and sensitive sides, or to reveal that his favorite activities involve tailoring, sewing, and making dolls. He still speaks roughly most of the time, but he's less constantly angry and defensive. In fact, he's quite shy around the girl (who he spent most of the game thinking was a boy) he likes, if prone to saying stupid things without thinking. His remaining insecurities still get responded to in the form of outbursts, but he's better about it, and realizes more quickly when he's said something he shouldn't. However, if pushed hard enough, or teased about his sexuality, he will still fall back on anger and insults.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW? Kanji has very recently started up classes to teach various kinds of crafts to anyone who wants to learn. They're going a little roughly, because he's still getting used to teaching, but he's patient and gentle enough that he can overcome most of that and teach well. He's also recently started to help out in the shop more, and his mother is showing him the ropes so he can take over some day. He is determined to finish high-school, even though he does struggle a lot with most classes, but has no plans of continuing his education, just taking over once he graduates. He's content, but misses Souji horribly.

Dammit. Maybe I should let Ma write this. Postin' about the crafts classes was way easier than this...
[Kanji writes something out on the paper in front of him and then immediately scribbles it out. Then he tries again. And again, scrubbing at his hair in frustration. Finally he grits his teeth and reads what's on the paper aloud.]
Come to Tatsumi Textiles for quality, handmade clothing and fabrics made to our customer's specifications. We also do alterations and measurements are done at no charge. Uh, maybe I can add shit about if they can describe it, we can make it. Yeah, that sounds important. With all these weird strangers from all kinds of places, I bet there's all kinds of stuff they can't find in Junes. Looks like business is gonna pick up, I hope.
[He doesn't sound very hopeful, and in fact sounds more anxious than anything, but he scribbles down something new, and after nodding to himself while reading it over turns to a large sheet of poster board. It's already been painted, with a simple, yet colorful image of fabric, a needle, and a doll, and with exaggerated care, Kanji picks up a brush and ever so slowly starts blocking out thick characters, with the name of the shop and the message he'd just finished composing. Unlike his hand-writing, the letters are perfectly neat, but his progress is excruciatingly slow. Still, he doesn't slow or stop until everything is complete.]
Heh, there! Just gotta let it dry and then I can go hang it up on the bulletin board.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
It was late. Kanji was tired, his eyes ached, and there was a twinge going up and down his spine between his shoulders. He knew he should go to bed and save it for tomorrow but he was so close. Rows of tiny stitches appeared in the fabric he ever so gently manipulated in his hands. It was a perfect white suit-coat in intricate miniature, barely big enough to cover one of his palms. The epaulets were being especially tricky, and Kanji had decided to simulate the gold decorations with thread. So he hunched over further, ignoring the twinge in his neck, and plied needle to cloth. Naoto's birthday was getting closer and closer every day, and the doll he was making for her--a stuffed Yamato Takeru, since she couldn't summon him in this world--had to be absolutely perfect down to every detail. He didn't even know if she liked dolls, but he hadn't known what to get her at all and after he'd agonized over it for what seemed like forever, Ma had finally suggested that he give her something from the heart. After thinking about it, Kanji had decided that making something would be putting his heart into it so a doll it was. It was taking forever, but Kanji looked on the doll as it slowly came together and knew it was his best work yet.
Except... Was that stitch just a tiny bit crooked? Yes, it had to be; it didn't look exactly right and didn't feel right under the pads of his fingers. "Dammit! Now I gotta pull 'em all out--"
So pull them out he did, but with a smile after the irritation at his own sloppiness faded. As he rethreaded the needle with practiced ease, Kanji tried to imagine how she'd react. Would she like it? Would she think of him even a little fondly whenever she looked at it? Maybe he should have gone with making her a new coat instead... but no, he was better at dolls, and he wanted to give her his absolute best. His hundred percent.
With that thought lifting his spirits and erasing the tiredness, Kanji ignored the clock ticking over past four in the morning while he sat in the pool of light from his lamp with the white fabric just inches from his face. In and out the needle went, leaving behind gold trails in a space not any larger than the head of a pin.

Rise Kujikawa | Persona 4 | Reserved
PERSONAL JOURNAL:
ARE YOU OVER 16? Yes!
CONTACT: offered wing @ AIM,
OTHER CHARACTERS: N/A
>CHARACTER
AGE: 16
PERSONALITY: Rise in a nutshell is... impossible to confine to a single category, and that she can admit as much is testament to how much she's grown over a year. Reaching back to the shy, subdued girl she used to be, there are times when Rise falls back into familiarity; when she first meets the Investigation Team, they're surprised to find that the peppy-seeming idol is, in truth, a quiet and tired girl. Her grandmother also mentions that Rise tends to wander off on her own from time to time; she's not always the little socialite when she needs time to get her thoughts together.
But there's that side of Rise that she strove to become in order to change herself completely. The bright, energetic idol who can rouse a crowd within seconds, who takes every step with confidence, and who flirts with her audience with a wink and a cute wave. She has no problem with the team knowing her measurements and even helpfully adds that her agency made her add an extra two cm to her bust size, and right from the start, she's so flirty and forward with Souji that Chie marks her as dangerous. This is a girl who knows what she has and knows how to use it.
But wait! We can't forget Homicide Detective Rise! The one who supports her team via scanning and analysis, who guides them safely through the dungeons, who can and will force herself almost beyond her limits in order to help where she can, and who knows when to take things seriously and fight for the truth.
So where is the real Rise in all of this?
Simply put, as stated earlier, Rise is a mixture of all the above. You see her enthusiasm and bright attitude with her friends, where she's comfortably flustering Yosuke and going along wholeheartedly with participating in a beauty pageant while the other girls are still stuck on being dismayed. You see her quiet side during her heart-to-hearts with Souji, where she confesses that she's rarely ever 'alone', due to her idol status, but when she is alone, she truly is alone. You see her serious, determined side when she staggers to her feet after receiving her Persona and is the only member of the Investigation Team who joins the fight right after her own personal fight is concluded (despite how weak and exhausted she is). All of the sides she originally only displayed one at a time have come together to form a complete person-- and it's something Rise still struggles with, being scared to show her fans - the world - every single side of her, rather than the ditzy airhead they'd come to expect, but she's since gained the courage and resolve to let herself be seen for who she is.
Originally, as she confides in their leader, she didn't even want to be an idol, but due to a set of circumstances, she found herself being offered the opportunity most girls would kill for. And she accepted, for one reason only: because the shy girl who couldn't even look up from her shoes, the one who was bullied... wanted friends, and the last option was to appear on TV. Which worked, for a time, except that what she got was people wanting to befriend her on the basis of her glamorous idol self and her celebrity status. Additionally, while she decided to change herself for the better, she was soon made to portray herself as some kind of vague, fake perky object of desire. And having to smile her way through everything, even when she disliked it, was enough to fuel her Shadow. In 2011, Rise Kujikawa was running away from a self she didn't believe was real. She wanted to show the world who she was, in all her entirety, and she wanted to be accepted for it. It's part of the reason why she values friendship so highly, because the Investigation Team were the first people to see so many different (some ugly) sides of her and to accept her completely. And those bonds are why she devotes herself to helping them and how, even though she teases and occasionally hurts feelings, she is absolutely loyal to her teammates and is the first one to break down in tears when Teddie returns to them.
Rise as a teenage girl is like a lot of teenage girls, in that she likes to flirt (often without meaning anything by it, since when she does get serious, returned flirting will fluster her) and tease (especially Kanji), she's nosy (checking her teammates' measurements, asking her upperclassmen who they're making chocolate for), she enjoys shopping, and she dislikes studying. In her opinion, if it isn't something you can use later, there's no point in ever learning it enough to commit it to memory. Her excuse when it comes to English is that she can just ask for a translator, and yet if you bring up tofu, Rise can rattle off big scientific words about the coagulants in tofu and come off as perfectly knowledgeable about it. If it's stuff like math, though, expect her to drag her feet and groan about how she's no good at puzzles.
And oh can she pout. Except to call it pouting would be like calling the Titanic a rubber ducky. It doesn't matter whether she's in the wrong or the right (and it's mostly the nearly-killed-someone-with-her-spicy-cooking wrong), when Rise wants to make you feel bad, she turns on the waterworks. She's quick to tear up, though they usually tend to be the loud, dramatic tears, and the more quiet, frustrated tears come during such occasions when she loses someone important to her.
This is, of course, only one way Rise deals with unhappiness. Sometimes she'll snap back, like when Naoto accuses them of treating the murders like a game and Rise promptly retorts that the detective doesn't know a thing about them and is, in actuality, the one treating this like a game. It's a turn-the-table sort of reaction, and she also does this with Kanji when he tells her not to call her by his name and, after a remark about his rudeness, she very smoothly transitions to how he developed a nosebleed upon seeing their senpai in bathing suits. It's worth noting that Rise is very, very adept at turning the situation in her favor. It comes in handy at times, like when she uses her idol status and marketing expertise to help Kanji sell plushies as well as sell more electronics at Junes, and she even manages to convince Naoto to don a skirt, but it can also lead to some suffering for her friends. Once Rise puts her mind to something, she does not back down and charges full speed ahead. This includes matchmaking attempts, much to Kanji's chagrin.
So does this energetic little idol have any weak spots? Plenty of 'em. I've already said Rise can be a force to be reckoned with once she decides on what to do, but the path to reaching that final conclusion isn't always easy. Despite quitting her career as an idol, she comes to question this decision, displaying jealousy towards her successor, and through a lot of indecision, soul-searching and Protagonist Power, she realizes that she actually really loves her job and that being Risette did make a difference to someone-- most notably, a girl who wrote her letters after Rise did a campaign to stamp out bullying. In short, Rise tends to second-guess herself at times, and can get discouraged when she can't be of use to the people around her-- like she can't validate herself as a person if she can't do what she's needed for. She breaks down in frustration when the fog in the TV World makes her collapse while trying to hunt down the culprit, and she very nearly loses heart when Nanako is hospitalized, blaming herself for not getting her out of that world sooner.
She also doesn't always resort to subtlety. While Rise in general is a very perceptive girl who can read people and the atmosphere like a book and respond accordingly, she still does mess up when she speaks her mind. Hence why she (with all good intentions) tells Chie she has the tenacity of a weed and originally calls Kanji's plushie-sewing habit 'creepy'.
Other things include somehow becoming drunk off of non-alcoholic beverages, not actually being able to defend herself in a fight (as she's support), being unable to make a decent meal without spicing it up to magma proportions, and being more street-smart than book-smart. She may not be able to solve math problems, but her experiences in the realm of showbiz gave her some extra insight into the case-- particularly with Morooka's death, when she pointed out that the killer probably wasn't targeting people because of a grudge-- people tended to hate those they didn't even know at times, after all, so seeking out that sort of motive was pointless. She's also prepared when the team shows up to warn her about being the next kidnapping victim, informing them that she'd already watched the Midnight Channel and immediately noticed the difference between herself and her Shadow, enough to insist that the figure hadn't been her. Street smarts? A+. Book smarts?
"Duh, I knew it couldn't have been vinegar!"
... Not so much.
Her good points are her strength as support (she constantly cheers on her team during their battles, as well as provides information on the enemy), her determination to keep going even when she's scared or injured, her adaptability, her observation, her acting skills, and all those things necessary for being an idol, a detective, and a good friend. She's a cheerful girl who can be as subtle or as straightforward as she feels like being, but she's no ditz and when it comes down to it, there's hardly anyone who's as loyal as Rise once she comes to like you.
To sum it up in the wise words of her grandmother, a woman Rise greatly admires, she's like tofu. "Tofu looks weak and fragile, but it's actually pretty resilient. Even though it stands out because it's not like any other food, it can be mixed in with any recipe or flavor." She may look like a tiny, frail thing, but much like tofu, her resilience keeps her coming back from nearly every situation with either a smile or a determined expression. And when it comes to aforementioned situation, Rise's right there adapting almost immediately.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW? Having made a promise to Souji, Rise's honored it and returned to showbiz. It hasn't been easy, given that Kanami seems to be the next new sensation, but with the support of her manager and her fans, she's certainly started to make a comeback as the new and improved Rise. In short, she's gotten much more vocal with her agency about the 'self' she presents to her audience and as such, has been performing as someone much less ditzy and airheaded as 'Risette' originally came off as. Additionally, she insisted on continuing her work while remaining in Inaba, in order to continue to look after her grandmother and to spend another year with her friends. She's now a second-year at Yasogami, and when she isn't busy working on commercials or struggling to write lyrics for her music, she's helping out with the family business, Marukyu Tofu. She tends to make more trips to the city these days for her work, but rest assured, Rise's there when you need her.

Ooh, you sound sleepy! Were you napping? Sorry! [ and from the cheery tone, she doesn't sound apologetic at all. ] ... Eh? A reason? Aww, Senpai, do I need a reason to call you? What if I just like hearing your voi-- aha! That was a yawn, wasn't it? Hold tight, Senpai, I'll let you curl back up in juuust a sec!
But actually, here's a status update! We're still getting loads of new people and-- well, none of them are as cool as you, but it's strange. The more I meet them, it's not like they're from out of town, but some of them act like they're out of this world. And they don't remember how they got on the train, either. The plot thickens!
[ this includes a dramatic voice, ruined when she sighs and adopts a more serious tone. ]
... We won't let anything happen again, I know it. But until then-- I'll keep playing tour guide! It's great for Marukyu Tofu! And--
... Okay, okay, I'll let you go. Sweet dreams, Senpai. Bye-bye!

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
The pencil should have been scrawling methodically across the paper, putting her thoughts down so she could properly arrange them into song. What the pencil was actually doing was resting between her lips while Rise cradled her chin in her palms and wondered for the umpteenth time if she should have come up with the melody first.
Not that a catchy melody would make it any easier to translate "I became an idol to make friends and that backfired so I quit but then I got thrown into a TV and had to face myself and at some point I guess we saved humanity I really love my friends by the way" into a coherent, sane song. It was all about metaphors, she knew - and she only knew because Naoto had been hellbent on stressing the difference between metaphors and smiles or similyms or whatever that other thing was - and clearing the fog away sounded poetic, didn't it?
Even if that had pretty much happened.
The pencil dropped from her lips as she unconsciously parted them in a nostalgic sigh. She still checked for the Midnight Channel every time it rained, staring at the black screen and only able to crawl back into bed with the cat when nothing showed. Of course nothing would show. It was over, all of it. The threat had been taken care of, eventually the nightmares where her friends were dragged down before her eyes would end... and of course, their leader was gone, back to the city. That part was the one that ached the most, even if she'd thrown herself into work and hung out even more with those remaining in Inaba in an attempt to deal with it.
... Kanji always complained when she dragged him shopping, though, as worth it as it was to cheerily ask him if he wanted to help pick out a cute skirt for Naoto. His reactions never failed to amuse.
Aaaand she was getting distracted, causing her to jerk up straighter and grab the pencil. She'd made a promise to Souji-- to herself, that no matter what, the Rise who became popular as an idol was going to be the same Rise who'd fought to protect Inaba with her friends. As scary as it was, there was no turning back now. Her own feelings, in her own words...
Rise steadied herself with a quick breath and just let the words come (with lots and lots of scratched-out segments and several rounds of revision in the future).
May nothing but sincere words echo far across the world...

PERSONALITY: Daisuke's the type of guy who will wear his heart on his sleeve. When he's happy he'll portray it with a grin or a pat on the shoulder if something went well during practice. If something's troubling him he'll try to brush it off or deny that there's nothing wrong with him. If he's angry about something he'll have no problem at all speaking his mind about it and telling the person off for their actions. In a way he's kind of brash when he's angry and will do the first thing that pops into his mind. A good example of this was when the others told Souji to take the soccer posts down all by himself. Daisuke instantly flew off the handle and told Souji that he shouldn't have to do that by himself and that they should just go home until Kou interjected and told them that they should still take the posts down, but only because they want to help the team out. He can also be a little slow on the uptake and can be headstrong and rush into things without really thinking things through. He's very much the type to act now and think later.
Daisuke also has a horrible case of foot-in-mouth syndrome and will say things at the wrong time. A great example of this would be him telling Nanako that she doesn't look cute right before he and the others head out for the movies. Another good example of this would be any interactions he has with girls. There are times where he makes a complete ass out of himself when he's around girls; but he means well, really. He either doesn't notice them or says that they're distracting when they come up to talk to the team. He can also be pretty blunt and downright irritable when he's frustrated or angry.
One of the main issues Daisuke has and is forced to realize would be the fact that he's not putting his very best into everything he does. This fear not only limited his opportunity at getting a girlfriend, but it also affected how he preformed in soccer as well. In middle school he had a girlfriend and wanted to do everything with her, but she knew that the Daisuke she fell in love with was the guy on the field and couldn't go on loving him. Because of that he tends to be a bit... guarded when he's around women, mostly so he doesn't get hurt like that again. Fortunately for him he was able to realize and overcome this fear with the help of his friends. At the end of his social link the love and passion he had for the sport is fully restored and he tells Souji that he's going to push himself to give 110% in everything.
When he takes an interest in something he'll do his very best to see it get accomplished to the very end. When he helped Souji out he was very excited that he could get to help someone grow and fit in with the rest of the team. When it comes to helping Kou out with his family problems he does his best to get Kou interested in basketball again. He even goes as far as setting up a game and blackmailing a bunch of the players on the team just so his plan could work out. Sometimes he can be a bit forgetful when it comes to certain things, but overall he's a really great friend. And always has their back, whether it's helping someone overcome something or helping them polish balls. As a side note he seems to prefer living in the country than being in the city. He feels more relaxed when in the country than he does whenever he visits Okina.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW? As Daisuke was a junior at the start of the game he still has one more year left to go. A senior now, he's most likely still on the soccer team and is most definitely still best friends with Kou Ichijou. If I had to say he would probably be the soccer captain (if he wasn't already.) He's definitely different when it comes to girls. He's more open around them and treats them differently thanks to the combined efforts of Souji and Kou. He'll still have his moments with them (i.e. his foot in mouth problem) but he's working on it. At the end of his social link he even agreed to go out on a group date with those girls, so he's probably doing a little bit of that. He's also definitely putting his all into soccer now, no more half-assing.

Oh! Hey, guess I didn't catch ya. Well I guess I'll leave a message instead of trying to call back later. Kou challenged me to another rainy day challenge, which is funny since it hasn't rained for a while-- But anyways! I was wondering if you were up for a study group session sometime soon? I know midterms are comin' up so I thought this would be a good idea. I know I've always done better when I study with a group people then when I try to study by myself. We can probably meet up one day at Junes or something... Anyways, if you're up for it just let me know tomorrow at practice!
Seeya.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE: Daisuke was in a bit of a tizzy as he paced around his room. Actually, it was more then a tizzy. There aren't even words to begin to describe how nervous and excited he's feeling at this very moment. A couple of days ago he finally caved in and agreed to go out to the mall with one of the girls from school. At first he was really stoked for it, but now?
Now he was... well, he was still stoked! But... he was more-- hesitant. Since she didn't really hint at it being a date. Just... going out on more neutral terms. Like two friends catching up with each other at a mall. Or something. Anxiously he picked up his cell phone and shot a text to Kou.
A few minutes later he found himself nodding along with Kou's response. It really is what it is, if it turns into something more-- well then that's great, but if it doesn't at least it's progress? Sighing he tossed the phone back on his bead and turned to his closet. What... to wear. Obviously he wanted to throw something on and call it a day, but-- there was... there was something inside that told him that he should at least dress up a bit. Even if they're hanging out at the mall. Maybe a nice pair of jeans, and a sweater? Or maybe just a pair of comfortable jeans and one of his favorite shirts? No... that seems-- well, it'd probably be better then wearing his tracksuit.
That in itself would say that he wasn't interested right? Right? Damn, why did he fail at this so much? If this were any other girl he wouldn't... really care, but this one-- she's so nice and really funny... and... and really cute. Especially when she smiles.
There. He finally admitted it, to himself at least, that she was cute. Walking over to his bed he picked his phone up and shot one last text to Kou. It was at times like these that he was really thankful to have Kou as a friend. He'd be sooo lost without him.

PERSONAL JOURNAL:
ARE YOU OVER 16? LOLYESSOB
CONTACT: aim//ttlyahero, plurk//
OTHER CHARACTERS:
>CHARACTER
AGE: 43 (going by him being 42 at the end of the game and this is a year later)
PERSONALITY:
Dojima is generally a good guy, even though he's a little rough around the edges. He's getting on in his age, but doesn't see himself as an old man yet - just a man in his prime. He's pretty well established in the Police Department and thinks of himself as a pretty good detective. He's a workaholic and often comes home tired, much to his daughters chagrin. There are several events during the game where she complains that he doesn't spend enough time with her, that he avoids her and talks to Souji more than her as well. Unfortunately, he's not very good at being there for his daughter at all, and has a tendency to put work first on more occasions that not. This matter changes slightly later on, when he realises how much Nanako means to him -- "She's my whole world." -- but it's still something he struggles to find the balance with.
This entire problem of being neglectful of his daughter comes from the death of his wife, Chisato. Chisato was the one who really raised their daughter, with Dojima being in the background as a strict but protective father figure - just like a stereotypical Japanese father really. Chisato was everything to him, and her death hit him hard. He is still looking for her killer from the hit and run, though part of it is an excuse to keep himself busy, that way he can avoiding spending much time with Nanako. Nanako looks more like her mother the older she gets, and it hurts him when he looks at her. He doesn't even consider Nanako's feelings, doesn't notice just how lonely she is. He just kicks himself constantly over not being able to catch the perp, constantly brings himself down that the owner of the car -- a foreign car -- has probably already left the town years ago after the incident occurred. He just can't get over it. He can't let it drop even though this heavily damages his relationship with his daughter.
Dojima is a rather distant person. He isn't all that good at talking to people outright, and separates work and his personal life as much as he can. Admittedly, this usually means that he doesn't spend much time at home at all - but there are times where he will gather everyone together for a meal and drinks. He is terrible when drunk, however, and can be just as loud mouthed as when he has a temper. In fact, it comes out almost as if he is angry. He drinks to deal with hard cases and when things aren't going his way, a habit that only seems to add to the neglectful way he treats his daughter.
However, he does have his good points as well. Knowing that he let the family down from going on a trip, he bought both Nanako and Souji a present to make up for it. He offered to get Nanako a new kotatsu when the weather took a turn for the worse too - so he can be kind, it just takes a while for him to open up to this stage, and he has to be in a good mood. His work constantly puts him in a bad mood, but he still cannot step away from the workoholic part of him.
He's pretty useless around the house, and yet again, has the problem of unloading all the housework onto his daughter. He never really learned how to do those things, just like he never learned how to look out for his daughter properly either. He even says at one point that his only job was to make the coffee as he was good at making coffee. He literally won't let anyone else make it. If Souji asks, he tells him no because it's his job. Coffee is something he uses to bind the family together, in a way. He gives Souji a coffee mug of his own when he finally accepts him into the family (when the Hierophant S. Link is MAXED), and even buys a cake to celebrate the day they do become family. He's awkward about it, but it's his way of showing he cares.
When annoyed he yells. He struggles to keep his temper down, and does not handle his job that brilliantly when things are bad. He becomes annoyed and irritated more often, and more prone to interrogating people when he should just be asking normal questions instead. He tries to look at the facts within a situation to make the most of it, even if it means suspecting family. Souji is constantly hounded by Dojima about where he's been, what he's been doing - then again, after the incident with Yosuke at Junes, it's hard for him to ignore everything as well.
But he places his doubt onto the wrong person.
Dojima trusted his partner, when it takes him a lot to trust anyone really. Even though Adachi acted up, ran his mouth too often and was a bit of an idiot, he trusted him. By the end of the game, that is completely spun on its head when Dojima has to take on the fact that it's Adachi he should have been wary of. The fact that even after being hospitalised, yelling out for his partner (or rather ex-partner at this point) and watching him run away he still sends a stretcher for Adachi when the Investigation Team drag him out from the TV world. He shows he did care and still does care. Adachi was welcomed into the family, ate dinner with them at times and is probably one of Dojima's few friends. Finding out the truth wouldn't have been easy on him - yet he still doesn't let it show when he talks to Souji at the end. He still keeps his feelings on everything to himself, no matter what. If anything shows that he keeps everything to himself, it's this relationship and situation that does.
One thing to note about Dojima is that he doesn't believe what people has to say, unless it's something 'normal'. Even when Souji explains to him about the television world and personas, he writes him off as spouting BS. He's a detective, someone who looks at facts and figures and evidence. In a way, it is no wonder he finds it hard to believe when a kid suddenly comes up with this heroic story about another world. He's very logical in his thinking, but this is also something to do with Japan itself and the repressed outlook that can be often found in the older generation there.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
After the incident cleared up (or so he thought, anyway), Dojima has gone back to his regular business working at the Police Station. Be it chasing juvie thieves or whatever else needs to be done around the town. He's concerned about the fog still, because it always will be unsettling to have thick green smog about, but there isn't much he can do about it either. He's still trying to balance work and his home life, but he's slowly improving enough to read Nanako bed time stories and actually spend time with her now Souji is gone. He still cares about his town, the sticks is exactly where he wants to be, so he's a little happier than he was a year ago for that too. Especially while things are a little more peaceful...
The sudden arrivals aren't going to settle well with him, he'll be suspicious of a lot of people (especially after everything that happened with Adachi - he was in the police and had fooled them all, so new people don't stand much of a chance) but he'll try and be helpful wherever he can. He is in the Police force, so it's not like he's going to turn his back on his work either. If people really need help, he'll help in any way he can.
He's also much better now Nanako is better and out of hospital, and has been keeping a closer eye on her now too. Though he still hasn't stopped the search for the killer of his wife either. He's mostly letting life settle back into place again.
>SAMPLES
Here is Dojima's main thread on the Test Drive meme. There are also these two threads as well.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
The morning had started out just as usual. Dojima had breakfast, his usual cup of coffee and made his way to work. He'd actually been coming home at decent hours for a while now, managing to find that balance (at least somewhat) he said he would. As he turned up at work though, he had a feeling that this was going to change again soon. He knew in the back of his mind that the fog was still there, no matter what Souji and his friends had done to hold everything back. He just had to hope that it was nothing too serious and would at least leave eventually.
Inaba was his home, seeing it in this state was... well, disheartening.
When he arrived at the station, he made himself another cup of coffee as he started through today's reports. Some kids graffiti-ing at the shrine. Another couple of kids trying to shoplift. Things were all rather normal compared to the murder case from a year ago.
Were being the key word.
Dojima's hand froze for a second as he picked up the newest report - right at the top of the pile with a huge 'Classified' stamped over the cover. A scowl instantly fell over his face as he opened it up, and was welcomed with a disappearance, similar circumstances to the happenings before.
Was it starting again?
As a way to let the information sink in, he took another sip of coffee, letting the bitter taste warm his palate. From the looks of things, his days were about to get much longer yet again. The case would need to be re-opened, or at least he personally was going to have to look into things properly on the sidelines. New cases had opened, and a disappearance didn't necessarily mean things would turn out the way they had before. But he needed to know the dangers. If his town would be in danger again.
He had some people he needed to visit.

Yosuke Hanamura | Persona 4 | Reserved
PERSONAL JOURNAL:
ARE YOU OVER 16? Yep

>CHARACTER
AGE: 17
PERSONALITY:
Yosuke is considered the comic relief among the group, whether it be through physical humor such as the times he crashes into garbage cans when he loses control of his bike or when he simply says something that is out of place at the time. His laidback and awkward attitude adds to this impression of the boy. Despite that, he's approachable (though he doesn't always seem that way at first glance) and friendly and will stick to his friends through thick or thin once he trusts them well enough.
He has a tendency of saying things without exactly thinking it through which usually get him into trouble and sometimes makes him sound like a jerk. Most of the time this backfires on him. A good example was when he suggested the group date café for the cultural festival and ended up posing as either a girl or being paired up with Souji (who took the part of the girl) depending on the player's choice. Both of which however, ends up with Yosuke in a very uncomfortable position (figuratively, of course). Though this frankness may seem like a bad trait to have, there are times when it is able to help him and the Investigation Team out during their review of the case.
Despite being friends with Kanji, Yosuke is homophobic and he doesn't try to hide it. This ties in pretty well with how he can manage to sound like a jerk without even trying or meaning to. He openly teases Kanji about being gender confused to the point that it sounds insulting. In fact, when he, Souji and Kanji had to sleep in the same tent during the camping trip, he worried whether the two of them would be "safe" sleeping so close to the underclassman and actually asked him before going to sleep. It doesn't exactly help Yosuke's case that Kanji reacted violently to the question only making Yosuke push even further for a straight answer from the younger boy. However, because of this fear he may become jittery when in the presence of someone who isn't straight, especially if you were a guy... and if you were hitting on him. Or if you seem to be hitting on him.
He is actually a lot smarter that he may seem to be. This also goes to show that he has decent deductive skills considering that he was the one who first noticed the pattern in the murders and kidnappings, saying that it was mostly women who was being targeted and later on people who were shown on TV prior to their kidnapping. Although this shows during the meetings at the special headquarters in Junes and the TV world, this doesn't ring true when it comes to school. When it's something school-related, he becomes lazy and unmotivated but he somehow manages to get by fine.
He seems to be the type who holds grudges and remind people that they owe him, but more often than not it's because he would only do so because recalling the situation could work to his advantage. Because of this it would seem that he liked to guilt-trip people like when whatever predicament they're in could turn out better for him. He even went as far as reminding the girls that he and Souji allowed them to stay in their tent the night prior despite the chance of expulsion for all of them had they gotten caught. Because of that, he was able to get them into the swimsuits he had brought along with him just for that occasion.
One problem Yosuke may have is that he has a tendency to get a little too emotional at times. With his judgment clouded by his emotions, it makes it harder for him to consider the facts and other possible options. This was especially present when the team confronts Namatame after Nanako's "death". He had blamed the man for both Nanako and Saki's demise and didn't care if they killed him then and there and would've probably pushed through with it if Souji hadn't intervened.
Yosuke comes of as a bit of a flirt when it comes to interacting with girls. He would always try to get on their good side but would usually be turned down in one way or another. He may not exactly have the skill to successfully charm a girl but that doesn't mean he's not going to try again at some other point in time.
As the son of the manager of Junes, a lot of the employees tend to go to him when they have suggestions or complaints. He doesn't exactly like it when they do that but he figures that those employees may quit if they had given them the cold shoulder. This would hint that he does care about the growing shopping chain and for his dad's overall business. However, bottling up his irritation on the other employees eventually causes him to snap at two girls who had always complained about their shifts and schedules. Besides that one incident, he has pretty decent managerial skills when it comes to handling most of the other employees.
Even if he's already a teenager, Yosuke is a picky eater. He doesn't like tofu but he decided to order some from Rise's shop just because it was from Rise. He also ate some of the girls' Mystery Food X, despite his better judgment. But after the first time, he was hesitant (and smart enough) to repeat the experience.
Yosuke is pretty much like any other teenage boy who wants to hang out with his friends, make jokes and just have a good time. This also means that he's a little perverted, especially when he bought the girls swimsuits just so they could take a dip in the river before they headed back into Inaba from their field trip.
In Yosuke's social link, Souji learns more about Yosuke's true feelings with regards to his outlook on Inaba, being the son of Junes' manager and how he really felt about Saki. He trusts Souji so much, especially because Souji had seen the worst of him during the time he confronted his shadow. Towards the end of the social link, he tells Souji that he was jealous all along and that he wanted to be acknowledged by their leader. At the same time, he wanted to be the leader, he wanted to be the one everyone depended on. Despite all these desires, he asks Souji to punch him so he could rid himself of these thoughts and so the two of them could be considered equal. This ends up with both of them going all out in a brawl. Yosuke only wants Souji's approval because he considers him as his first real friend.
When it comes to fighting, Yosuke could wield kunai, knives and wrenches decently. It is never said how he knows to use them but the knowledge he has in using those weapons is enough to show that he could fend for himself in battle.
Besides the earlier stated weapons, he also has the ability to summon his Persona, Jiraiya (and later on Susano-o). His Persona allows him to cast a variety of support spells that either up the stats of a party member (or the entire party) or lower the stats of opponents for a few turns. He could also cast Garu, or wind, spells and a few healing spells. However, he is weak to Zio (or lightning) spells and could be knocked down by them.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Just when the fantasy comes to a halt does real life kick you in the ass to remind you that it's still around. This is exactly what happened to Yosuke in the days and weeks after Souji's departure from Inaba. With university examinations just around the corner, he's been working double time to catch up with his studies what with his parents pushing him to get into a good college at the end of the school year. Not that he's making that his top priority right now. It's school after all, and schoolwork just has a way of getting him down sometimes. He's taken a few extra shifts at Junes, now that he's gotten some extra downtime since the case. Despite having to work more, he's thankful for the salary he's given as it helps him with his still ongoing motorcycle fund.
To be honest, Yosuke's found that things have become a little duller than he would've liked now that things seems to have settled down. He misses the excitement of heading over to the TV world and protecting others but he can't complain either, considering just how much of an impact actually quelling the source of the shadows has done for the real world.
Or at least so he thinks.
>SAMPLES
[It had been a simple enough request. Go around town feeding a few of the cats Souji had befriended during his one year stay. Why his friend had been feeding strays was beyond him but he didn't question the other boy's motives. All right, he had teased him about it for when he had first found out but he had eventually grown accustomed to it.
He had already visited all but one, a rather small cat that frequented the nearby streets by the Dojima household. It took him a while to find the feline, roaming through the neighborhood streets until he had finally spotted it.]
You know, it'd really help if you stayed in one area instead of walking wherever you wanted.
[He lets out a groan but he doesn't expect to get more than a meow from the cat as he speaks. Crouching low on the ground, he rifles through the plastic bag in his hand, taking out the remaining can of food he'd brought along with him. He watches for a moment as the cat sniffs the outer rim of the can.]
What are you waiting for? Eat up.
[And then he hears a low growl. He turns slowly, cautiously, only to come face to face with a rather large, black dog. The canine eyed the Yosuke for a moment before turning its attention back at the cat, who decides that it's about time to make a run for it, leaving Yosuke at the mercy of the animal. With his hands raised in an attempt to placate the dog, Yosuke gets back up onto his feet, taking small steps backward and away from the stray.]
Look, I don't want any trouble okay? Just stay where you are and I'll leave, got that? [He lets out a nervous laugh.] Good boy. Good boy.
[In which, he answered with a loud, terrifying bark. Before he knows it, his feet take flight down the street, around a corner and out of the neighborhood, far, fay away from the rabid animal.]
Dammit, Souji! That's the last time I'm feeding that stupid cat of yours!
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
It was the quiet times in the stock room that gave him the most time to think about things. Instead of taking inventory or piling up boxes over boxes, he'd somehow lose himself in the process, allowing things like school, his friends, work, the future occupy his mind instead of the task at hand. This week's nagging topic had been regarding the latter of those options.
With how things seemed to be going, he had a lot of things to consider in the coming year. Whether or not he'd need to go to cram school before the university tests rolled along, what schools he's be applying to, what classes he needed to work on. The biggest problem being what he wanted to do in the future. He knew that his family had expected him to help out with the business after he graduated from college but he wasn't too sure himself if that was what he really wanted. In the long run, handling the finances, advertising, maintenance of Junes seemed like a big downer and that wasn't something he saw himself doing in his adult life.
He let out a sigh as he opened another box, ticking off the contents on his clipboard.
Things had been so much easier a year ago. To anyone else, that may have been hard to believe, considering that he and the others had had their hands full with the investigation on the murder cases, and the trips to the TV World. But it was the excitement that came along with it that made him look forward to waking up the next day. Now... there really wasn't much driving him to get things done and over with.
Besides school, he hadn't seem much of the others either. Even if he had wanted to hang out with them, the timing of his shifts at Junes weren't during the best of times, always coinciding with whatever plans the rest of the gang has made.
"Geez, what a depressing life I live."
A shout echoed through the room not long after. "Hey Yosuke, you done there yet? The truck with the new washing machines just arrived at the docking bay. Think you can lend a hand with that?"
And with that, the quiet time he has to himself comes to an end. At least for now.
"Yeah, lemme just get this last box and I'll be right over."

AGE: 17
PERSONALITY:
At a glance, Kou Ichijo seems like a pretty cheerful and friendly guy. He’s the first to treat the Protagonist/Souji nicely in the basketball team, welcoming him when their team mates would slack off. He easily can make friends with people, making him somewhat popular and earning him some female admirers.
As a friend, especially around Daisuke, he loves to joke around and make some sarcastic remarks. Kou can do this because he knows his friends and was comfortable enough to do it without being taken seriously.
That isn’t to say he doesn’t have his own stupid moments. When Daisuke was having girl troubles, Kou decided to help his friend out. By arranging a surprise group date for him in attempt to help Daisuke with his girl troubles; which went as well as expected and they both got into a fight. Kou was just worried for his friend, which just pissed him off the more he see Daisuke doesn’t face his problems and let his soccer performance suffered. They’re friends and they all have a part in each other’s life, so of course it matters!
But he won’t deny that he’s stupid, such as when he thinks his family no longer need him. Kou have enough self-awareness to realise that, after he put himself through his troubles and worries, that it was people around him that shaped who he was. Not just who his real parents are.
Which can make it surprising when people found out he’s from the House of Ichijo, an old and distinguished family. As their adopted son, he is the young master ‘Kou-sama’. In social gatherings for the family, he would be their proper and respectful son. With the correct composure and good manners, Kou would be the perfect son in front of guests and company.
That would be because, in the beginning, he was adopted to be the heir and they raised him accordingly. But when his sister was born and named the heir, instead, Kou suddenly have more freedom. This would be a good thing, but to him, he felt like he has no more purpose to the family that take care of him. Because he was adopted to be their heir, now they have a real one, what can he do? Fortunately, Kou came into terms with his feelings and talked to them, with the help and support of Souji and Daisuke. He might not be next in line, but he promised to be the big brother his sister can have, and the next head of family deserves.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
As a third year student in Yasogami High, he’d still be in the basketball team and is still best friends with Daisuke Nagase. After the family drama last year, Kou’s more focused on his studies and basketball playing, this time as a captain. He’s more or less at peace with his place in his family, and sworn to be the best big brother to the his sister (the future family head) without his passion for basketball suffers for it. Since he made his decision, Kou’s also planning on attending college after graduation.
Aside from that, life was pretty much normal for Kou Ichijo. He attend school for his third year courses and preparing for college, watch over the basketball team like a strict but fair captain and hanging out with his friends (even if it means being a pair of idiots with Daisuke). And of course, help out his family.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
He tied the obi around his waist with practised ease. There would be a family function for the House of Ichijo later on in the evening. Friends of the Ichijos, from equally as distinguished households in Inaba, will be attending.
As the son of the Ichijo, and the next master’s brother, Kou would be there. And he didn’t mind it at all. Okay, sometimes it can get a little boring. But the rest of the time, he might meet some interesting people and maybe make friends with them. He still have to mind his manners, since he’s also representing his family, but if Kou see people he like there...these gatherings aren’t so bad after all.
Not only that, but he did vowed to help his family in any way he can. They did put up with him all these years since his adoption. He just got to repay their kindness and love with his efforts.
With a smile on his face, Kou looked at himself in the mirror. Wearing a formal, dark kimono and an obi around his waist, he looked like a handsome, traditional young man. He looked over himself again, before nodding in satisfaction. Not bad. He knew the gathering won’t start until hours later, but he can save time by dressing up early.
Beside, he’s not planning on going anywhere else today. Sure, he wanted to hang out with Daisuke, but there’s always the weekends for goofing off like the pair of morons they are. Heh.
Idly, he glanced out the window of his room. He can see the fog obscuring his usual view to the outside. Inaba’s been getting a lot of fog lately, for some reason. Crossing his arms, he thought about it.
A natural phenomenon? This fog wasn’t like the fogs he saw before in his entire life in Inaba. Not as thick as this. The more he thought about this, the more he remembered the rumours flying around about the fog in December. Nah, that can’t be right. Those were just rumours, it’s not like they’re the truth...right?
“Oh, forget it.” With a sigh, Kou walked away from the mirror and picked up his basketball on his bed. A smile appeared on his face when he felt the familiar, round shape and weight in his hands. Well, he could stop thinking about the weird fog and play around with his ball for a bit.

PERSONAL JOURNAL:

>CHARACTER
AGE: 20
PERSONALITY: Akihiko, well, Akihiko likes to fight. He's obsessed with training, always trying to become stronger, and he has the focus and drive to make it worthwhile. He has this obsession for a reason – when he was younger, he lost his sister, and he swore to become stronger to prevent it from happening again. He'll risk everything he has to save someone in danger, whether he goes at it alone or not, and this makes him recognize and admire bravery in others.
It may seem like Akihiko's all brawn and no brain, but that's far from the truth. He knows that fighting isn't always the best way to handle a situation, even if that's what he'd rather do. If someone is being stubborn, he'll lay off and let them have their space. He's one of the more intelligent and observant members of SEES, able to view situations objectively in order to come up with strategies that use both logic and his intuition.
When he's somewhere that doesn't involve fighting, he appears cool and confident. However, all this flies out the window when he gets into a situation that's more social than he'd like. He has no concept of romance, and he isn't the type to seek out friends. He gains acquaintances through being forced to work together with someone for an extended period of time. He's always cordial in these relationships, and it can take a long time for those bonds to mature to friendship. When they do, they cannot be broken.
Akihiko's greatest weakness is his social ineptitude. Aside from politeness to strangers, Akihiko's focus is always on training or whatever errand at hand. When he has neither of those to focus on, his social awkwardness always comes out in full force. Since he always thinks about training, his small talk tends to be about that as well.
This may not seem like that big of a deal, but it is precisely because of this that Akihiko feels unable to help his friends when they're in need. He knows he isn't good with words, and he generally lets people handle problems on their own, while keeping his distance. The fact that a friend needs help, coupled with his inability to do anything about it, affects his mood. When he feels compelled to confront someone about it, accompanied with a punch to the face if he feels it's called for, it's usually someone else who ends up solving the problem.
Summoning Caeasar also takes a mental and physical toll – doing so invokes all the trauma involved in shooting yourself in the head, time after time never getting any easier. Since he modified his Evoker, it also carries with it the fear that he forgot to take out the bullets and really will shoot himself. Summoning it frequently in a short period of time leaves him tired, sometimes completely exhausted. Because of this, Akihiko will only summon Caesar for just long enough as it takes for it to do what it needs to do – whether it's dealing some lightning damage, some healing magic, or putting a little extra damage behind a physical attack. Just as he has Caesar's resistances when it isn't summoned, he also keeps its weakness. Caesar is weak to ice, and Akihiko will take more damage from it compared to other attacks.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Akihiko graduated, of course. After that, though, that was the question. It had always been assumed that he'd go off to college, but assumptions are often ignorant of circumstance, and college wasn't for him. Despite Mitsuru's protesting, well, he hated school as much as Junpei did; she should consider it a miracle that his class ranking was so high. College was a definite no, not even if she did offer to pay for it (with the condition that it was actually more or less a loan, of course). There was no way he was going to deal with more school than he absolutely had to.
But no matter what career he decided on, there would still be training. The police academy could call itself an academy all it wanted, but it didn't feel like the same to him, and that was that. Besides, this was all about a subject that he rather liked. By the time Caligo rolls around, he'll have just finished in the academy.

Hey, Mitsuru, it's Akihiko. You there?
It's been a while. Listen, there's this town out in the sticks. Inaba, I think. There are things going down there, you know the kind. I'm headed that way, come down if you can. Later.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Dorms. Akihiko should have known better than to think he'd get out of them so easily. Watch, while he's in Inaba, three guesses as to where he'd be living - or not, because small towns aren't exactly rich enough for that. His own place, then. Finally. Who knows, maybe he should just stay here, at least until he could save up some money. It'd be boring as hell, but the cost of living out here would be worth it any day - for a while, at least.
The trip out there is boring, but at least he can get reception for most of it - he's not one to spend time on a phone but hey, it's something to do. When he finally arrives in Inaba, he finds it a nice enough place. It almost seems like his stay here will be rather uneventful - that is, until he feels Caesar stir inside of him, ready for battle. It takes him by surprise, because what kinds of Shadows could there be out here? In the open?
No, they wouldn't be, and even if they were, certainly not during the day. But Caesar keeps wanting him to go toward the Junes out here - Shadows in a department store? He grins to himself, not being able to resist imagining those table ones getting a nice dose of wood polish. Now he's seriously wondering if that would actually work - maybe just surprise them?
His life has been more ridiculous.
But Caesar still has to wait; all this thinking about the epic battle of Shadows versus household cleaning objects won't make his walk go faster. It's making Akihiko antsy as well. There's something to fight here, he's sure, Caesar wouldn't just do that. The look in his eye changes, and he adjusts his bag on his shoulder. The sooner he got routine new town stuff taken care of, the sooner he could figure this out and fight. Really? He'd missed it.

Re: Chie Satonaka | SMT: Persona 4
Age: 17
PERSONALITY: With Chie Satonaka, what you see is largely what you get. She's open and outgoing, with very little in the way of artifice. She's always eager to meet new people and make new friends; when Souji moves to Inaba, she's the first classmate to approach him and introduce herself. She may not be the most popular girl in the school, but she doesn't need or want to be. She's got a lot of friends and acquaintances, she's pretty up on the latest rumors, and that's enough for her. And the people she calls friends are friends for life -- you'll never meet a more loyal girl. Chie is all about helping people, from interrupting a teacher's vitrolic rant, to facing down a gang of avaricious bullies, to fighting a towering monster for the fate of all mankind. Justice is vitally important to her, so she'll be the first to speak up against any unfairness she sees in the world. This is especially true when the people important to her are in danger. When Yukiko's life is threatened, Chie becomes single-minded in her need to rescue her best friend. In pursuit of that justice, Chie has been teaching herself a kick-based martial arts from a very young age. (Though that decision also owes a lot to her being such a kung-fu movie fangirl.) Behind Chie's cheery exterior is an interior that's mostly the same... but there are still some self-confidence issues lurking around back there. She has a much easier time seeing other people's good points than her own, and that can lead to her doubting herself and what she's able to bring to any situation. She also has a bit of a quick temper; press on one of her issues and you can get her from zero to shouting in a minute or two. Still, she bounces back quickly, and she won't hold a grudge -- if you apologize. While Chie isn't stupid by any means, her brain works more intuitively than intellectually. She has some difficulty in school, often getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information she's expected to retain. But her motto (even if it is just stolen from Bruce Lee) definitely suits her. Her intuition has led her to surprisingly accurate deductions over the course of the investigation, and her battle instinct is second to none. She's really at her best when she isn't second-guessing herself and letting her brain get in her way. The only disadvantage is that trusting her instinct too much can make her stubborn and unwilling to change her mind once she's made an impulsive decision.
WHERE THEY ARE NOW?
Since the climactic battle with Adachi, Chie has remained in Inaba, continuing her training and her schooling. She's been putting extra effort into her schoolwork, working toward her desire to become a police officer once she graduates, and those efforts are starting to pay off. She still often hangs out with all the members of the Investigation Team -- aside from Souji, of course, but she keeps in touch with him via cell.

[The following is a voice mail received by Yukiko Amagi's cell phone.]
"Hey! How you holding up? Hope you guys aren't too swamped with all the new people and stuff. Man, this is so weird, isn't it? All the crazy people showing up on the trains. And that fog! Totally creepy. It's... Y'know, it's almost like everything is starting over again. ... Hahaha, no way! How could that happen, right? We beat that eyeball guy and sent him packing! ... Although he did say he might be back someday... Oh, whatever! If he shows up again we'll just beat him down like we did before! Anyway, I gotta get some of this homework done. Let me know when you're free and we can have a study session, okay? Later!" [Click.]
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
"Alright, see you at the usual place tomorrow. Later!"
Chie flipped her cell phone shut and collapsed backward onto her bed, letting out a long, slow sigh as she stared up at the ceiling. It was a few minutes past 12 am, and she'd just gotten done talking to Kanji about the shadowy, indistinct figure they'd seen on the Midnight Channel.
It really was all starting over again.
What did it mean? Namatame knew the TV world wasn't a safe place any more. Adachi was in jail, and Ameno-sagiri defeated and driven back. Neither one of them would be throwing anyone in the TV any time soon. So why was the Midnight Channel playing again? Was it a warning? Did someone else have the power to throw people in? And why was it happening now?
Chie groaned and rolled over onto her stomach, burying her face in her pillow. She was completely worthless at this stuff. The rest of the team was much better at analyzing these confusing situations. Naoto especially, given her detective training. And Souji... If only Souji were still in Inaba. He'd be able to figure everything out, no doubt. He'd led them through the entire battle from start to finish, gotten them safely out of 2011 without the world ending in a mass of fog. Without him... what would they do?
After a few moments, she realized how obvious the answer was. What would they do? The same thing they'd always done. They'd investigate, try to find out who was next, try to keep them safe... And if they couldn't, they'd go in and rescue them. The team had sworn not to let anyone die, and just because their leader was gone didn't mean they could forget that vow.
Chie punched her palm, nodding to herself with cool determination. Tomorrow after school, then, the Investigation Team would begin anew. With or without Souji's help, they wouldn't let anyone else get hurt. She wouldn't let anyone else get hurt. There was no way Chie Satonaka was gonna settle for anything less.
